Winter Hygge Small Business Shoot


I don’t know about you but this cold weather has me feeling all snug and cosy. It was the perfect week for a winter themed Hygge session for all of those small businesses looking to showcase their winter wares. For those of you that aren’t familiar with the term, Hygge is a Danish word for feeling cosy, comfortable and content. It is an important part of Danish culture and something I think we should all draw on in these winter months. 


The session was split over two days, both of which were very dark, cold and wet up here in Yorkshire. I was looking for a range of simplicity, texture and layers for the photographs, with the aim of creating a feeling of warmth and a cosy atmosphere. I had some beautiful items to work with including a sheepskin rug, candle, diffuser and a weaving kit, perfect for some cosy time indoors. I made sure to include cups of tea and hot chocolate – who doesn’t love a good cuppa on a cold winter’s day! Thank you to all the small businesses that took part in this shoot, it was a lovely one to set up.
